What is Sukanya Samriddhi scheme?

Sukanya Samriddhi scheme is saving scheme for girl child . This scheme is launched by government of India on 22-January-2015. It was launched under the campaign "Beti Bachao, Beto Padhao". You can open SSA account in a bank or post office in the name of your girl child. Age of girl child should be less than 10 years at the time of account opening. The girl child is called " Account Holder " and the parent or guardian is called the " Depositor ". Parent or guardian can operate account till the girl child reaches the age of 18. Then girl child can operate the account by herself. To open Sukanya Samriddhi Account, Following documents are required. 1) Birth certificate of girl child , 2) Identity proof of parent or guardian , 3) Address proof of parent or guardian . Deposit limits for a financial year is minimum ₹250/- and maximum ₹1.5 lakhs. Deposit amount must be in multiples of ₹50. There is no limit on the number of deposits in a financial year.
